HSU-4 TO -128 DESCRIPTION
Probe Products Corporation's HSU is a high speed intelligent transducer signal conditioner for inductive transducers of any type including LVDT, RVDT, LVRT, half-bridge and proximity for dimensional measurement.
The HSU is a self-contained signal conditioner system that connects up to 128 probes in groups of 4 transducers to any computer. Individual transducer values or complex functions results are passed through the USB or serial/RS232 port using either binary or ASCII message protocol.
A single HSU provides signal conditioning for up to 16 transducers. The HSU signal conditioners are sold by groups of 4 inputs. These modules may be mixed to be all of one type or a mixture of LVDT, strain gage and/or digital inputs. It is expandable to a maximum of 128 transducers through the use of additional units by daisy chaining one Primary and multiple Secondary units.
A powerful processor within the unit MAY perform multiple real-time computations (such as A+B, max/min hold, TIR and trigonometric functions) before transferring measurements to the host computer. The form of the computations is user configurable to match the application. Measurement values can be presented in a way most meaningful to the operator. Data collection is fast and efficient. The HSU can perform approximately 2,000 transducer readings per second with 16 bit resolution.
Measurements can be directly imported into a variety of standard SPC software systems with either a binary or ASCII protocol. The HSUs network compatibility allows use on a low cost diskless workstation where the operator gets instant dimensional data and the network provides for archiving, detailed analysis and report generation at a central computer.
The HSU has the capability to operate as a gaging device triggered by a footswitch and responding with ASCII data. The HSU ASCII mode is simple to set up and use. There are several ASCII commands that allow the user to use their existing SPC package and increase functionality and reliability as well.
To acquaint new users with the powerful features of the HSU, an application program is furnished with the system. This program can be used as supplied to set up a measurement system, or it can be used as a basis for customized software.
